Punch by design
Punchy presentations mean the presenter gets what they want from their audience. This might be the sale, buy in to a project or a behavioural change from their management population. In order to get what they want, presenters need to absolutely clear on what they want and what it will look and feel like when they've got it.
We encourage our learners to design with the end in mind. Once you are absolutely clear on what you want your audience to do as a result of your presentation and clear about what they would need to feel and think, then you can design a presentation which focuses exclusively on those factors. We do this by coaching our learners to:
- Be clear about what they want their audiences to do
- Include only those principles and details which support what they want to achieve
- Develop high impact strategies to evoke the thoughts and feelings which will influence their audience
Presence
Even the most capable of your people can be ineffective in front of an audience. Sheer weight of knowledge won't carry the day where the speaker does not appear to have the "stature" their words are suggesting. On the other hand, there are people who seem to just ooze credibility and authority even where they know little of the subject. These people seem to command attention and, in a way, take up more space than others.
We equip people with the physiological and psychological strategies need to develop a real stage presence. Using techniques adapted from Alexander Technique and stage performance we show learners how to attain poise and balance. This state allows them to command the audiences' attention whilst focussing their own on the business in hand.
Using principles from NLP, FLOW and again from the theatre, we equip individuals to focus only on those things which will enhance their performance (their physical state, audience rapport) to ensure they are at their best for every "performance".
Power
Research suggests that the thought of giving a public presentation is more disturbing for many people than the thought of dying. Hence the phrase "dying on stage!" How often have you seen a well structured and staged presentation lose impact because of the emotional state of the presenter?
We equip our presenters with powerful tools and techniques to ensure they can harness emotional energy and channel it into their presentations. For example:
- Anchoring positive states to gestures, words and pictures
- Leading emotional state with physical state
- Helping learners to "reframe" their task in way which enthuses and excites them
Method
We take people through an intensive two days of practice, high quality input, precise feedback and coaching.
We keep the numbers low to ensure each person gets highly tailored 1-1 coaching with the support of a small peer group.
