‘Essence of Kaizen’ Showcase

This week about one hundred senior L & D professionals spent a very special day with the Kaizen Team.   Our ‘Essence of Kaizen’ Showcase was packed full of real learning through choice workshops facilitated by the Kaizen Team, fabulous networking and a world cafe on hot topics.  For those of you who came along – thank you for making the day such a success!  We hope you’ve already downloaded your additional materials from our ‘Essence’ tab on the website – and that these are helping to consolidate your learning from the day.  (These materials are ONLY available to Essence participants, and you’ll need a password).  The choice workshops included:

  • Alastair Olby, with two workshops:  The New Facilitative Leader and Journeys to the Edge & Beyond
  • Richard Nugent with The Ultimate Business Balance
  • Steve Marriott with Coaching Mastery
  • Justin Collinge with Communications Mastery
  • James Rosenegk with Change in the DNA
  • Dr Trish Riddell, our very own tame neuroscientist, with Tricks of the Brain
  • Helen Krag with two workshops:  Influence Mastery and Women as Leaders
  • And Kimberley Hare with a Brain Friendly Learning appetiser

The day was a huge success.. a chance to reconnect with long-time Kaizen friends, and also to ‘strut our stuff’ with clients who haven’t been ‘Kaizen-ed’ previously!  Congratulations to all the people who won prizes by getting the Quiz right too…

In today’s climate, with many training budgets being slashed.. we’re really proud to be bucking the trend.

As part of the set-up for the Showcase, we asked guests to tell us about their biggest challenges and headaches.  Here’s the top four responses:

  • “How can I manage change when the goalposts keep moving?”
  • “More for less:  How can I sustain and even improve performance when my budgets have been slashed?
  • “Why won’t they LISTEN! How can I transform the credibility of  L & D in my organisation?”
  • “Engagement? I know the theory… now how do I make it a reality?”

Here are just some of the comments from our guests who experienced the day:

I just wanted to write and say thank you for a really lovely day yesterday. Not only did I find the sessions extremely interesting and really worth attending and the team that you have were a pleasure to spend the day with, I also took home some really useful insights that I can use with my team and also in my personal life.  The whole day was  well thought out and put together and it all worked like clockwork, a real credit to all of you.  So again many thanks.  Rosemary Wheeler,  Operations Manager, Bupa Travel Services

A huge thank you for your warm hospitality yesterday.  Wendy and I had a lot of fun, met some wonderful people and most importantly took away some cutting edge learning that we’re already using….It was fantastic you see you and the team again. I always feel like I’m home at Kaizen events.  The sessions were excellent and gave me plenty of ideas to take forward and really make a difference.  The intro to the SCARF model I particularly enjoyed.  James Pope, Learning Account Manager, Kent Learning & Development

A big thank you to you for a very energising, upbeat and thought provoking day yesterday. I always feel privileged to be invited along and to learn, share experiences and network with some fantastic people. You and your team had really shone doing what you all do extremely well! I’m looking forward to logging on later to see the write ups on the sessions I could not go to!  Marie Smith, Training Manager, RNLI

Debs and I really appreciated the opportunity to meet the team and see everyone in action!  I extended my network with some great learning professionals (your clients reflect very well on you), Steve and I had a good conversation re the coach lunch in March, and I had some real insights of my own through the course of the day.  Diane Turner, Deloitte

Wow, what a fantastic event you put on yesterday, I’m still buzzing from it – just as I expected I would.  My feedback is that was perfectly set up and well paced, with just enough and leaving the desire for more! A great example of time flying by when everyone is engaged.  I will review the website later and take in some of the sessions I missed; having spent ten minutes with Trish in the Coaching Cafe, I’m keen to learn more tricks of the brain.  With my warmest thanks for a very productive day and congratulations on a job well done!  Rob Garvey, University of Westminster

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for inviting me yesterday.  You can tell the type of company you are from the clients you have and they are FAB!  I cannot tell you how chuffed I am to have won the place on Kimberley’s Brain Friendly Learning workshop, I just love stuff like that.  I was in such a state of excitement as I left.   Sarah Setterfield, Impact for Success

A big thank you to you and your team for a truly excellent day on Monday!  I have some experience of what goes into making an event like this run smoothly and was impressed by how well everything had been organised.  The millionaire’s shortbread were gorgeous!  Now I just need to become a millionaire ….Everyone made me feel welcome.   All the sessions I attended were interesting, informative and good fun.   And it was a bonus to know that the notes from all the sessions would be available on the website.  I came away with lots of ideas, energy and an enthusiasm for trying some of the techniques out.  THANK YOU.  Barbara Cutts, Group Learning & Development Manager, NPS Property Consultants Ltd

Thank you for a great day … and do pass on my thanks to Kim and the rest of the Kaizen team. I had a great day and I know the others in my team came away feeling renewed and re-invigorated about rolling out our Kaizen programme.  Barry Milchem , Business Performance Director, Capita Commercial Insurance Service

Do you have a company away-day or learning conference coming up?  Why not let Kaizen Training plan and facilitate this for you?  We guarantee a massive wow factor, and heaps of learning that sticks!
